Excitement filled the air across District 123 today as students in grades 1-8 started the school year! Grade school students lined up outside and had the chance to catch up with old friends and meet their new teachers.
“We are extremely excited about the new school year and the opportunity it brings to serve our students and partner alongside families in the Oak Lawn and Hometown community. We hope everyone shares our enthusiasm as we begin our learning journey this year,” said Paul J. Enderle Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools at District 123.
The first day was especially special at Sward and Covington schools as each started off the school year with a new principal. John Wawczak greeted Covington students with a warm hello and fist bumps while Candy Kramer was excited to read the announcements to the school for the first time. This year the District 123 one-word theme for 2017-18 is, inspire.
“Our focus will expand upon our District’s core vision and mission by concentrating on the 3 “T’s” of organizational culture; trust, togetherness, and thoughtfulness. These tenets will further encourage us to serve the needs of our learning community in an inclusive and caring fashion while striving to work together to maximize our collective strength as a community,” said Paul J. Enderle Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools at District 123.
Kindergarten and EL programs start this Friday (8/25).
