The District 123 School Board of Education held their regularly scheduled meeting September 21, 2017. View the agenda.
Highlights from the meeting include:
Premlinary 2017 Tax Levy:
The district is currently in the process of assembling the levy request according to Mike Loftin, Assistant Superintendent of Business.
“The Education Fund rate ceiling has been eliminated and that’s big news. That is going to allow us to levy where we need the money most. That is really positive news for all the districts in Illinois. This is part of the Senate Bill 19-47 that overhauled state funding for all schools,” he said.
A public hearing will take place regarding the final tax levy sometime before the November board meeting approving a final Levy in December.
Loftin also reviewed with the board updates required by the state to the Administrator and Teacher Salary and Benefits 2017 report and the IMRF Salary Report for 2017-2018. Both are posted here.
Dr. Enderle spoke about the successes of the recent Fall Family Conferences across the district.
“We practiced our student-led process from pre-school all the way to eighth grade. We don’t have any hard numbers yet but feedback from the principals show that the conferences were well attended and positive experiences for parents and students involved,” he said.
The district will continue the process in the spring.
Discussion & Action Items:
The board approved the Budget Calendar, Emergency Operational Plan revisions, the Parkland Preparatory Academy Lease, the Capital Projects Inter fund Transfer Resolution and the Board professional development budget.
